The Road to a Climate-Neutral School

Project Duration

03/22 - 02/24

Overview

As the Fridays for Future movement has impressively demonstrated in recent years, it is young people who are speaking out today to make a better future possible. Global political pressure to meet ambitious climate goals has thus increased dramatically. Schools are suddenly emerging as political spaces. The future of the planet seems to depend on our children’s commitment. What better place than schools to ask the question of a sustainable future?

The project in detail

The “Road to a Climate-Neutral School” project aims to empower students to shape their immediate environment in such a way that it has no negative—and ideally even a positive—impact on the environment. To this end, a two-year support and implementation process focused on school climate protection is being carried out at six secondary schools in North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg. Through workshops and coaching sessions, students are equipped to identify and implement climate protection measures. In the process, they receive support in communication and content development; see “Outputs” and “Further Links.”
